The Lantern is the smallest of the sea rooms and the brightest. The roof comes down on both sides, and the gable end is almost all glass: a run of windows with the bed tucked beside them, so the first thing you see when you wake is the colour the sea has decided to be.
We gave it the name because from the beach at night it is the one lit window high up in the house.
Who it suits
Couples who want the view and do not need the space. It is a room for sleeping, reading and looking out, and it does all three very well.
Good to know
The ceiling slopes, so tall guests should mind their heads by the bed. The blinds close fully, which matters in June when it is light until almost ten.
